PADI Deep Diver in Tenerife

Explore the Underwater World Down to 40 Metres

Every diver reaches a point where curiosity goes beyond the recreational limits of an Advanced Open Water certification. Deeper walls, impressive volcanic landscapes and fascinating wrecks are waiting to be explored—but only with the right training and experience. The PADI Deep Diver Course teaches you how to plan and safely conduct dives to a maximum depth of 40 metres, giving you the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to enjoy deep diving responsibly. At Scubafriends Tenerife, a PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre in Costa Adeje, you'll train in small groups with experienced instructors, learning through real dives in one of Europe's best year-round diving destinations.

Why Take the PADI Deep Diver Course?

Deep diving is about far more than simply reaching a greater depth.

As you descend beyond 30 metres, every aspect of the dive becomes more important. Gas consumption increases, bottom time becomes more limited and careful planning is essential.

During the course you’ll learn how to organise deep dives safely, understand the effects of pressure and nitrogen narcosis, manage your gas supply efficiently and use your dive computer as a key planning tool.

By the end of the programme, you’ll not only be qualified to dive deeper—you’ll also become a more confident, aware and capable diver.

Why Complete Your Deep Diver Course in Tenerife?

Tenerife is one of Europe’s premier destinations for deep diving.

Its volcanic coastline allows divers to reach significant depths just a short distance from shore, making it an ideal location for practical training without long boat journeys.

Excellent visibility, comfortable water temperatures throughout the year and a wide variety of underwater landscapes create the perfect environment to develop real deep diving experience.

Learning in these conditions prepares you for deep dives anywhere in the world.

Practical Training That Builds Confidence

The PADI Deep Diver Course combines online learning with four open water training dives.

Before every dive, you’ll work with your instructor to plan the dive profile, calculate gas requirements and discuss the objectives for the session.

After each dive, you’ll review the experience together, analysing what went well and identifying areas for improvement.

This practical approach allows you to understand not only how to perform a procedure, but why it matters.

Why Choose Scubafriends Tenerife?

Choosing the right dive centre is just as important as choosing the right course.

At Scubafriends Tenerife we believe that quality instruction cannot be rushed. Every student learns differently, which is why we keep our groups small and adapt the course to your individual pace.

As experienced PADI TecRec Instructors, we work with deep diving on a regular basis and bring that knowledge into every course. Our goal is not simply to issue a certification, but to help you become a competent diver who feels comfortable and confident at depth.

Whether you’re planning future wreck dives, wall dives or simply want to improve your diving skills, you’ll receive professional instruction in a relaxed and supportive environment.

If you’re unsure whether your certification qualifies, simply contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

How Long Does the Course Take?

Most divers complete the course over two days.

However, we always adapt the schedule to your learning pace. We believe it’s far more important that you finish the course feeling comfortable and confident than simply completing it as quickly as possible.

What Can You Do After Becoming a Deep Diver?

The Deep Diver certification opens the door to many of the world’s most exciting dive sites.

You’ll be able to explore deeper wrecks, dramatic walls and underwater landscapes that require additional training beyond the Advanced Open Water level.

It’s also an excellent foundation before progressing to specialties such as Enriched Air Nitrox, Wreck Diver or beginning your technical diving journey with PADI Tec 40.

Every new certification expands your experience and gives you greater confidence underwater.

Explore Some of Tenerife’s Best Deep Dive Sites

One of the biggest advantages of completing your Deep Diver Course in Tenerife is the opportunity to train in an environment designed by nature for deep diving.

After earning your certification, you’ll be prepared to explore some of the island’s most famous dive sites, including the El Peñón Wreck, better known as the Tabaiba Wreck. Resting at around 30–32 metres, it is one of the Canary Islands’ most popular wreck dives and an excellent example of why proper deep diving training makes such a difference.

Tenerife’s volcanic walls also offer spectacular underwater scenery where depth increases rapidly, requiring careful planning, buoyancy control and situational awareness.

Our aim is to prepare you not only to dive deeper, but to enjoy these incredible sites safely and with complete confidence.

Deep Diver or Tec 40 – What’s the Difference?

This is one of the questions we’re asked most often.

The PADI Deep Diver Specialty qualifies you to conduct recreational dives to a maximum depth of 40 metres, always within no-decompression limits.

PADI Tec 40, on the other hand, introduces the world of technical diving, including decompression procedures, specialised equipment configurations and completely different dive planning techniques.

If your goal is to become a more experienced recreational diver, the Deep Diver Course is the ideal next step.
