PADI Wreck Diver
Whether they were sunk purposely to create artificial reefs for divers or the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows into the past. Ships, airplanes, and even automobiles are fascinating to explore and are usually filled with aquatic life. Each dive on a wreck offers the opportunity to discover something new, perhaps by unraveling a mystery or observing something never noticed by others. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is very popular because, while following strict exploration procedures, it offers exhilarating adventures.
If you are at least 15 years old and are at least PADI Adventure Diver, you can enroll in the Wreck Diver Specialty course.
Training:
You will begin your training by reviewing the guidelines for researching and respecting wrecks. Additionally, you will learn:
• Safety considerations for navigation and exploration of wrecks
• To evaluate and map a wreck
• To use a penetration line and a reel to help you explore
• Techniques to avoid lifting suspension or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants.
The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course can be credited as one of the Adventure Dives for the Advanced Open Water Diver certification
Equipment:
You will need all your basic equipment , plus a flashlight to be able to see inside the wreck, a slate and underwater compass for mapping / navigation, and a line with reel to get inside.
