PADI Tec 40
The PADI Tec 40 course is the transition point from recreational to technical diving. It is the first stage of the complete PADI Tec Diver course, and it acts as a bridge between non-stop diving and deep decompression technique. You will gain experience and begin to learn the theory and skills needed to continue your training. You will be qualified to perform limited decompression dives up to 40 meters.
Tec 40 course requirements you must be:
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
- PADI Enriched Air Diver with at least 10 enriched air dives deeper than 18 meters / 60 feet
- PADI Deep Diver or prove you have made at least 10 dives at 30 meters / 100 feet
- Be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives.
In addition, you must be in possession of a Medical Certificate with Nulla Osta signed by a doctor in the previous 12 months.
Note that certificates from other organizations may be valid – ask your PADI Tec Deep Instructor for information.
The course:
The Tec 40 course consists of three theoretical development sessions, three practical sessions and four training dives. You will learn several notions about:
- Risks and responsibilities of technical diving
- Proper technical equipment, preparation and assembly
- Gas planning, oxygen limits and decompression planning
- Squad diving techniques and emergency procedures, including managing continuous supply, manifold leaks, and low-air situations
Equipment:
You’ll start with your basic equipment and add that technique , which essentially means doubling it down. You will be able to dive in “backmount” configuration. Your PADI Tec Instructor can let you dive with enriched air for added safety.
